Small Townhouse Garden Design in Foxrock
Posted on 4th October 2020 at 16:00
Our design proposed for a compact garden space for a townhouse garden in Foxrock, Co Dublin. The owners who have a very young family wanted to create an appealing space with an open design and optimized the available space for use as a play area and patio. The design featured a seamless layout of lawn and patio areas with perimeter border planting and some raised planter beds. The garden design also featured calm neutral colours to contrast with the more vibrant tones of lawn and planted borders.
The final garden design included a number of key elements:
slatted timber screening of side walls to provide effective privacy from neighbouring gardens, an appealing and uniform height, and painted in a light grey which also created the illusion of more space
Limestone paving for patio and border edgings
Raised planter beds to create focal points each containing a specimen tree
Buxus hedging framed the borders planted with a mix of compact Hydrangea shrubs and Agapanthus flowering plants
The rear raised bed featured a mix of Mediterranean style planting (colour + fragrance) whilst also providing informal seating at the patio edge
For all year use and no maintenance an artificial lawn was selected as the preferred play surface for the young children
LED Garden lighting will also feature in all planted areas to create added appeal after dark.
