A series of ideas rejuvenates a compact family garden space with a sunny aspect in Terenure, Dublin 6W to create a space which is optimised for more enjoyment, privacy and a more practical layout.   It is frequently said, the smaller the space, the bigger the design challenge and this project reflects that dilemma. Most gardens irrespective of size share common requirements, access, storage, privacy, somewhere to sit and enjoy the fine outdoors, some appealing planting. Creating harmony in a small space, where space is a premium can be very challenging, especially if one wishes to avoid a cluttered layout.  This design assignment, we set out to create a space with a sense of privacy (solution: custom made horizontal timber slatted fencing and some strategically positioned pleached trees), the Biohort HighBoard 200 Storage unit was the perfect solution to provide storage for 2 adult bikes. The unit not only is strong, durable and weatherproof but it's clean lines and contemporary styling not only reduced some bulky garden clutter but did so in a very complementary way. Given the limited size of space available, the decision to use natural stone paving and artificial grass was easy as homeowners preferred to be practical and opt for durability and low maintenance. To add more depth and variety to the planting scheme, the pleached trees (planted in Biohort Belvedere Steel Planters) and existing olive tree were underplanted with a limited mix of seasonal specimen shrubs and herbaceous plants.    Investing in quality materials, professional design & landscaping services, is the smart way to achieve trouble free, stunning & lasting results.
