Colours adds so much fun, pleasure and excitement to the garden but often many gardeners are frustrated with the results of their efforts to produce a colourful display. In urban gardens where space is often more limiting, this can be particularly challenging. Before deciding on what plants (shrubs/flowers/grasses and trees) to grow, there are a number of factors to be considered:
A great choice for instant screen offering evergreen screening throughout the year. An ideal choice for Driveways and Rear gardens.
Pyracantha is a tough resilient shrub, easily trained against a wall to provide a fierce barrier to deter unwanted visitors. The tight network of strong branches, armed with fierce sharp syringe-like needle thorns, offers great shelter for the smaller nesting birds in summer, and in winter a bountiful harvest of berries, a particular favourite with Blackbirds.
Our bees are in serious threat of significant decline. Recent reports point to as much as 75% of the bee population may have disappeared. The reasons are varied and many but most commentators agree that the loss of habitat, simply not enough flowers to nourish the bees is becoming increasingly a critical factor.
