Small garden design ideas
Bring out the best with smart planning for small spaces
Designing gardens for small spaces raises a number of challenges and demands greater use of the available space than might be the case with larger sites. Typically this might involve careful consideration of several elements including low maintenance planting but looking good most if not all year long, screening unwanted views, a structure which is not only visually interesting but practical. Other challenges might be where to locate planting and other features such as lighting, water etc. Small spaces demand no fuss but big impact. In this case we have constructed Raised planter beds using yellow quartz stone. The planting beds are generous to accomodate the tall mature Bamboos, ideal for screening and providing an easily maintained lush finish with great rustling sounds (an added bonus especially in smaller gardens). The granite sphere is a compact but equally delightful water feature, lots of sound but hardly any maintenance. The Raised Planter beds are easily maintained with easy access and the finish is eyecatching and the sandstone wall capping provides much useful additional informal seating. In smaller gardens, it is important to bring out the best and the light coloured sandstone stone chippings not only provides a beautiful and rustic ground covering but a bright and very affordable finish to complement the more expensive drystone finish to the Raised Planter beds.
